What Is Nutrition

What is nutrition and why is it one of the most important aspects of your life? Well, nutrition is all of the things you put into your body to keep you healthy and keep you growing. You know, things like vitamins, minerals, amino acids, anti-oxidants, and phytochemicals that keep all of your body systems running the way they are supposed to.

The body is an intricate machine, made up of several systems that each serves a specific function toward life. As these functions and systems get injured, overworked, or not given enough nutrition, they start failing, creating unhealthy, overweight, tired, stressed out, and weak people.

Nutrients are the basic but essential ingredients for life. They keep all bodily functions operating correctly so you can live a very healthy and productive life. They work hand-in-hand with your digestive, skeletal, nervous, circulatory, cellular, and reproductive systems to allow your entire body to receive all of the special fuels it requires to make repairs to injured organs and tissue, build new cells, and naturally cleanse itself of harmful toxins.

What is nutrition and where do nutrients come from? When I say nutrients, I'm talking the base essentials of food required by your body in order for it to run at peak performance. These are the base molecules of the food or beverages you consume.

Now when thinking nutrients, you think everything that you eat or drink. Well, that isn't necessarily true. Some foods and beverages are seriously deprived of the natural nutrients due to the way they are processed, stored, and packaged for sale to you the consumer. Most foods and beverages have a degree of nutritional value, but if it isn't fresh (not altered, manufactured, modified, medicated, treated, sprayed, preserved), it isn't healthy for you.

Now there is a big difference between good food and bad food. Once you figure out what the difference is, maintaining great nutritional health is very easy.
